Beginning Teachers

Highly qualified and effective teachers make a difference in the lives of our students.  Hickory Public Schools provides a Beginning Teacher Support Program for teachers in their first three years of teaching to support professional growth and development.  Every teacher new to Hickory Public Schools will attend New Teacher Orientation in August.  In addition, each Beginning Teacher will be assigned a mentor to provide building level support and coaching during the first three years of teaching.  Beginning Teachers meet monthly at the school or district level to discuss topics relevant to teachers new to the profession.
