Hickory City Schools announces the exceptional achievement of Anna G from Grandview Middle School, who emerged victorious in the District Spelling Bee by flawlessly spelling the challenging word "Allergenic” on Friday, January 19th at Grandview Middle School.
Anna's outstanding spelling skills, unwavering dedication, and diligent effort led her to secure the esteemed title of District Spelling Bee champion. Her ability to navigate a diverse range of words showcases her linguistic skills and commitment to academic excellence.
"We were delighted for the return of the Hickory City Schools District Spelling Bee. The academic competition was paused for a few years, but this year, we were able to host the event and celebrate the success of our students. The Spelling Bee is more than a contest; it celebrates language, learning, and our students' incredible talents. The journey to victory was challenging, with Anna G facing off against some of the brightest young minds in our district. Their remarkable ability to navigate through intricate words and their poise and confidence on the stage truly set them apart. As we celebrate this remarkable achievement, we also extend our gratitude to all the participants, teachers, parents, administrators, and organizers who contributed to the success of the Hickory City Schools Spelling Bee. The event not only showcased the linguistic talents of our students but also emphasized the importance of hard work, perseverance, and academic excellence." said Shelly Black, Hickory City Schools Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
In addition to this remarkable accomplishment, we are excited to share that Anna will represent Hickory City Schools at the Regional Scripps National Spelling Bee at the Bank of America Stadium in March.
We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to Liam K from Jenkins Elementary, who demonstrated outstanding spelling abilities throughout the competition, earning the well-deserved title of Hickory City Schools District Spelling Bee runner-up.
