From an applicant pool of thousands of high school scholar-athletes graduating with the class of 2023, more than 5,700 have been named School Winners in the Heisman High School Scholarship competition awarded by The Heisman Trophy Trust.

School Winners will continue on for the chance to become State Winners, National Finalists or National Winners. State Winners receive a $1,000 college scholarship, National Finalists receive a $2,000 college scholarship and the male and female National Winners will each receive a $10,000 college scholarship.

Adahlyn Wood is a member of the women’s soccer team.  She is a competitor on and off the pitch. She is a true scholar-athlete. She was a member of the 2022 Conference Champion Lady Tornado soccer team this past spring while being dual enrolled at Catawba Valley Community College. She was named to the President’s list at CVCC for both the fall and spring semesters for maintaining a 4.0.  Adahlyn was selected to represent the Western region soccer team in the Body Armor State games this past summer, helping them win a silver medal.  She is a member of the National Beta Club, National Honor Society, and HOSA-Future Health Professionals.  Adahlyn plans on attending a four-year university in the fall of 2023 and pursuing a degree in nursing.
