Click Here for Request for Media Coverage Document

Thank you to the entire HPS team for helping to share “Good News” with the community.

Requests forms for media coverage have been in place since November, 2011.  New employees may not be aware of this procedure; so please note there is an approved HPS guideline to potentially receive coverage for special school events/news.

  • All requests for media coverage must be completed by the HPS employee making the request. Consider making media requests a part of your lesson plans!

  • Simply complete the document, SAVE the document to your files; and then attach the form to your email forwarded to your school’s Communications Liaison (CL).

  • You will also need to attach any supportive documents and photos (fully identified and cleared for publication—more details within the form). The CLs maintain a list of names of students with parental opt-out forms. We cannot publish any photos, interviews or video of any students with opt-out forms (forms are found in the HPS student handbook and submitted to the office within the first two weeks of enrollment—annually).

  • Once your media request form and all corresponding materials are emailed to your school’s CL, the CL will review the form for completion and obtain approval from the school principal. The CL will forward all materials to the communications office.

  • If events have already passed, employees may still submit identified/cleared photos and a completed media request form (with support documents, as necessary).

Lead time: Preferably two weeks. There must be sufficient time to pitch ideas to the press—or for N. Stiles to schedule coverage.

Disclaimer: Not every story and news tip will be covered due to timing, schedules and other needs of the district. Some stories simply do not make it to the news/ website/social media.

Athletic news (high school) is submitted directly to the HHS Athletic Director.

In addition, the following actions do NOT serve as media requests:

  • Employees posting events and photos on social media or contacting the director of communications via social media

  • Employees sending out mass emails to their schools and forwarding the email to the communications office

  • Employees sending news to the superintendent –requesting coverage from the communications office

  • Parents calling the communications office for coverage of their child (media requests are only submitted by employees)

Thank you for working with the HPS Communications Office to share the achievements of our employees and students!
